Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
As we look back on 2024, we are proud of the progress we have made at Norafin. We have further expanded our Environmental – Social – Governance- reporting and have made great steps in our corporate responsibility towards greater sustainability. We are well on the way to switching completely to electromobility by 2025.
Another highlight was our participation at the “Techtextil” trade fair, where we were awarded with the innovation prize for our “Hydro-Shape - 3-dimensional textile structures made of water” project. Over the course of the year, we built the first Hydrostitch prototype facility and we successfully established our sustainable nonwovens as a printable substrate.
We also continued to invest in the development of our employees. We worked together on the strengths and potential of our team leaders and further consolidated our product management structure.
Digitalization was once again an important topic in 2024. We are pleased that we were able to make good progress in areas such as process optimization and documentation. An added value that our customers can also benefit from. We also put our fully automated, digital cutting table into operation and are pleased about the positive feedback we received over the course of the year.
Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina on September 27, 2024, destroying the local infrastructure, resulting in our Mills River, NC facility being shut down for 2 weeks. Our employees and the community immediately spurred into action to band together to support one another through this unprecedented storm and destruction. While we lost production time due to road accessibility, power outages, and water mandates, we greatly appreciated the outpouring of support and understanding that we received from our US customers during this time.
Looking ahead to 2025, we are looking forward to the 40th anniversary of our spunlace technology and are excited about the challenges that lie ahead.
