Biodegradable Cleaning Wipes

In addition to the petroleum-based synthetic fibers commonly used in the cleaning industry—such as polyester or polypropylene, or blends of these with viscose—Norafin is committed to developing compostable cloth solutions.

There are also already established alternatives on the market in the area of personal hygiene. For example, LENZING™ Lyocell is a fiber with excellent physical properties available on the market. VEOCEL™ Lyocell fibers are made from wood pulp and produced using a resource-efficient closed-loop process. During the solvent spinning process, water and solvent are treated and reused within the process loop. More than 99% of the solvent used is recovered.*

Norafin has also built up many years of expertise in processing renewable fibers such as flax or hemp.

Thanks to the three-dimensional nonwoven structure and the spunlace process, we are able to produce nonwovens from wood-based (Lyocell, viscose) and/or plant-based (flax, hemp) fibers with a level of stability that is typically achieved only by blending in synthetic fibers. As a result, we produce fabric solutions—including those made from Lyocell fibers—that are certified according to STANDARD 100 by Oeko-Tex (16.0.90034) and are compostable** in soil at the end of their life cycle.
